Ian Brennan
Creator of Glee
Ian Brennan is a television writer, actor and producer. He is best known for his work on the television show Glee.
He conceived the idea for Glee based on his own experience as a member of the Prospect High School (Mount Prospect, IL) show choir. In August 2005, he purchased a copy of Screenwriting for Dummies and wrote the first draft of Glee - initially envisioned as a film - but didn't succeed in generating interest in the project for several years.
Through his friend, television producer Mike Novick, writer/producer Ryan Murphy received a copy of Ian's script. He and his Nip/Tuck colleague Brad Falchuk suggested that Glee be changed into a television show format. The script was re-written and picked up by FOX within 15 hours of being received.
Murphy and Falchuk became the show's executive producers and showrunners, while Ian Brennan is a co-executive producer and Novick is a producer.
Twentieth Century Fox is preparing to produce Glee Live! 3D!, a 3D movie featuring the cast of the hit series during their 18-city tour across the country this summer.
