Chris Colfer, who made his television debut as Kurt Hummel on GLEE, was recognized for his work on the series with a 2011 Golden Globe Award in the category of Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in a Series, Mini-Series or Motion Picture Made for Television. That same year, he was also nominated for a SAG Award in the category of Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Comedy Series. In 2010 and 2011, he was honored with Emmy Award nominations for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series.
In 2012, he released his independent film STRUCK BY LIGHTNING which he wrote, produced and starred in. That same year, his children's book, "The Land of Stories," hit bookshelves everywhere. Additionally, he recently adapted a pilot for the Disney Channel called "The Little Leftover Witch." The pilot is based on a children's book of the same name by Florence Laughlin.
He was honored as a member of the 2011 TIME 100, Time Magazine's annual list of the one hundred most influential people in the world.
Colfer grew up performing in community theater productions in his hometown of Clovis, CA. In high school, he was active in drama, was president of the writers club, served as editor of the school literary magazine, was captain of the Destination ImagiNation team and was a speech and debate champion.
