Gillian Anderson currently stars in NBC's HANNIBAL as Bedelia Du Maurier, Hannibal's psychiatrist (Season 3 is currently in production). She gained worldwide recognition in THE X-FILES garnering awards and critical praise over the show's nine-year run.
Earlier in 2014, she finished filming the second season of BBC2's award winning crime drama series, THE FALL (available on Netflix and on DVD), in which she plays Detective Superintendent Stella Gibson alongside Jamie Dornan in the role of serial killer Paul Spector.
Other notable credits include the feature films THE HOUSE OF MIRTH, THE LAST KING OF SCOTLAND, JOHNNY ENGLISH REBORN, SHADOW DANCER, THE MIGHTY, PLAYING BY HEART, HOW TO LOSE FRIENDS AND ALIENATE PEOPLE, BOOGIE WOOGIE and the acclaimed BBC miniseries BLEAK HOUSE and GREAT EXPECTATIONS.
Her most recent film credits include Ursula Meier's SISTER, Sandra Nettelbeck's MR. MORGAN'S LAST LOVE, Richie Mehta's I'LL FOLLOW YOU DOWN, and Jon Wright's ROBOT OVERLORDS (to be released this year).
Gillian made her London stage debut in Michael Weller's WHAT THE NIGHT IS FOR in 2002 and then went on to continued success and critical acclaim in the Royal Court's production of Rebecca Gillman's play THE SWEETEST SWING IN BASEBALL in 2005. In 2009, she received an Olivier award nomination for her portrayal of Nora in Zinnie Harris' adaptation of A DOLL'S HOUSE at London's prestigious West End theatre, The Donmar Warehouse. In the summer of 2014, she starred as Blanche Dubois in the Young Vic's critically-acclaimed production of A STREETCAR NAMED DESIRE directed by Benedict Andrews. For her performance in this role, she won the London Evening Standard's Natasha Richardson Award for Best Actress later in the year.
Her first novel, A VISION OF FIRE, was released on October 7, 2014. This science fiction thriller, the first of THE EARTHEND SAGA series, was co-authored with New York Times bestselling author Jeff Rovin.
Over the last 18 years Gillian has been involved in several charity organizations - as an honorary spokesperson for The Neurofibromatosis Network; a founding member of SA-YES; and as a board member of Artists for a New South Africa among many others.
