Patricia Arquette got her start in show business in 1986's Pretty Smart (1987) when she was just 18 years old. A year later, she gained attention for her starring role in A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors (1987), playing Kristen Parker.
In 1993, she starred in Tony Scott's ultra-violent True Romance. She has since appeared in such critically acclaimed movies as Ethan Frome (1993), Beyond Rangoon (1995), Flirting with Disaster (1996), Lost Highway (1997), Stigmata (1999), Bringing Out The Dead (1999), Human Nature (2001), Holes (2003), and Fast Food Nation (2006).
She won a CableACE Award in 1991 for her portrayal of a deaf epileptic in Wildflower.
In January, 2005 she began starring in her first television series, NBC's Medium. Now in its 4th season, the success of Medium has made her a household name.
For her work as the psychic Allison DuBois in Medium, she's won an Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress (2005) and received nominations for another Emmy (2007), a SAG Award (2006, 2007) and Golden Globe Awards (2006, 2007, 2008).
Since 1997, when Patricia's mother lost her battle with breast cancer, she has been very involved with fund raising for breast cancer research.
