Award-winning television and screen actress best known for her roles as Murphy Brown (1988-98) and Shirley Schmidt in Boston Legal (2005-08).

Her filmography includes: The Group, The Sand Pebbles, Soldier Blue, Carnal Knowledge, Starting Over, Ghandi, Miss Congeniality, and Sweet Home Alabama.

Her next film, scheduled to be released in October 2008 is "The Women", with Meg Ryan, Annette Bening, Carrie Fisher, Debra Messing, Bette Midler, Eva Mendes, Jada Pinkett Smith, Debi Mazar, and Cloris Leachman.

She recently signed on to co-star opposite Kate Hudson and Anne Hathaway in the romantic comedy Bride Wars for Fox 2000 and New Regency.
