It was in Rowan and Martin's comedy-variety show Laugh-In (1968-1970) that Goldie Hawn became very popular and proved herself a talented performer.
She won an Oscar for her major movie debut, a supporting role in Cactus Flower (1969, with Walter Matthau and Ingrid Bergman).
She went on to star in There's a Girl in My Soup (1970), Butterflies Are Free (1972), The Sugarland Express (1974), Shampoo (1975), Private Benjamin (1980) for which she received a 2nd Academy Award nomination, Seems Like Old Times (1982), Swing Shift (1984), Overboard (1987), Bird on a Wire (1990), HouseSitter (1992), The First Wives Club (1996), and The Banger Sisters (2002).

In 2005, Goldie's autobiography, A Lotus Grows in the Mud, was published. It is a memoir and record of what she has learned in her life so far.
