Dan Mathews
Senior Vice President of PETA
Dan Mathews is the Senior Vice President of PETA and known for heading PETA's most controversial and attention-getting campaigns, including the "I'd Rather Go Naked Than Wear Fur" ads, as well as campaigns involving celebrities.
Mathews has been arrested over twenty times all over the world in his efforts to protect the rights of animals and create public awareness. As a consequence, he is often in the news.
His memoir, Committed: A Rabble-Rouser's Memoir was published by Atria books in 2007.
In his book, he talks about his colorful crusades in behalf of animals that have landed him behind bars, nearly naked on the campus of Harvard, and even "committed" to an asylum in France (hence the title of the book). From his impoverished childhood as a victim of bullies to his notorious friendship with Pamela Anderson, Dan's stories reveal his devotion to a cause that's as dear to his heart as it is to yours.
