Gahan Wilson is known as "the master of the macabre" and it is agreed by most who know his work that he is a national treasure.
His cartoons have graced magazines as widely diverse as Colliers, Look, Punch, Playboy, The National Lampoon, Fantasy and Science Fiction, and The New Yorker.
He received the World Fantasy Convention Award in 1981 and the National Cartoonist Society's Milton Caniff Lifetime Achievement Award in 2005.
He is the subject of a feature length documentary film, Gahan Wilson: Born Dead, Still Weird (2008), directed by Steven-Charles Jaffe.
