Recording artist, award-winning songwriter
Raised in Houston, TX, Sara Hickman launched her professional career at age 14 at a Houston Oilers party with just her guitar and voice. She was soon singing at bank openings, psychiatric units and weddings.
She graduated and received a B of A in painting from the University of North Texas.
Her independently-released debut, Equal Scary People, was picked up in1989 by Elektra. This was followed in 1990 by the album Shortstop, which yielded the #3 adult contemporary hit I Couldn't Help Myself.
Sara has twice been a guest of NBC’s Tonight Show , hosted her own VH-1 special, and produced an independent video, Joy, which won first place in the USA Film Festival. She has performed nationally, from festivals to Carnegie Hall to house concerts.
