X-Files, Bleak House
Gillian Anderson is a film, television, and stage actress best known for her roles as FBI Special Agent Dana Scully in The X-Files television series (and two XF films), Lily Bart in The House of Mirth, and Lady Dedlock in the BBC television series Bleak House.
For her portrayal as Dana Scully in The X-Files, she won an Emmy and two Screen Actors Guild awards. In 2000 she won a Best Actress-British Independent Film Award for her work in The House of Mirth. And in 2006 she won a Best Actress-Broadcasting Press Guild Award for Bleak House as well as Emmy and BAFTA nominations.
Other films credits include The Mighty, Playing by Heart, Princess Mononoke (voice of Moro the Wolf), The Mighty Celt, Tristram Shandy: A Cock and Bull Story, The Last King of Scotland, Straightheads (aka Closure), How to Lose Friends and Alienate People, and Boogie Woogie.
In 2003, she won the Whatsonstage.com Theatregoers’ Choice Best Actress Award for her West End debut in Michael Weller's two-hander What the Night Is For. The following year, she starred in Rebecca Gilman's play The Sweetest Swing in Baseball at London's Royal Court Theatre.
This year, Gillian received a Laurence Olivier Award nomination for her portrayal of Nora in a new version of Ibsen's A Doll's House which ran from 19 May to 18 July 2009 at the Donmar Warehouse in London, UK.
