The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis, The Bob Cummings Show

Dwayne Hickman is an actor, artist, and television executive who has worked in show business since he was six years old. He was a reluctant child actor during the Golden Age of Hollywood working with screen legends John Wayne, Frank Sinatra and many more.

Dwayne first attracted wide notice when he played a recurring role as Bob Cummings's fictional nephew, Chuck, on the NBC situation comedy The Bob Cummings Show (aka: Love That Bob) from 1955-1959. During those years, he learned comedy from such masters as Jack Benny, George Burns and Bob Cummings. After this show came to an end, he was cast as Dobie Gillis in the CBS sitcom The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis which ran from 1959-1963.

His post-Dobie movie career ranged from Oscar-winning Cat Ballou to teen beach party films with Frankie Avalon, Annette Funicello, Sandra Dee and others.

In 1970, he had a stint working in Las Vegas for Howard Hughes and bringing Country and Western legends Jerry Lee Lewis, Tammy Wynette and Roy Clark to the Vegas Strip.

He spent years as a Program Executive with CBS T.V. working on hits like M*A*S*H, All in the Family, Dukes of Hazzard, and Designing Women and meeting, then Governor and Dobie fan, Bill Clinton.

Dwayne Hickman co-authored Forever Dobie with his wife, Joan Roberts for which they have enjoyed wonderful reviews including one from the Los Angeles Times, which voted Forever Dobie "The perfect airplane read, entertaining, revealing and laugh out loud funny."
