John Lynch is an Irish actor who's career spans feature films, television and theatre.
Feature film credits include Hot Potato, Nativity, Ghosts, Black Death, Lassie, Evelyn, Sliding Doors, Moll Flanders, The Secret of Roan Inish, and The Secret Garden to name a few.
John's television credits include The Jury, Vera, Merlin, Silent Witness, and Spooks. In Bleak House (2005), he played Nemo (Latin for 'nobody'), the alias of Captain James Hawdon, an officer in the British Army. Nemo copies legal documents for Snagsby, lodges at Krook's rag and bottle shop, and eventually dies of an opium overdose. He is later found to be the former lover of Lady Dedlock (Gillian Anderson) and the father of Esther Summerson (Anna Maxwell Martin).
Theatre credits include Blackwater Angel directed by Ben Barnes for Abbey Theatre, Hamlet directed by Fiona Shaw for Abbey Theatre, Electra directed by Deborah Warner for Riverside/Bobigny, The Seagull directed by Charles Sturridge for Lyric Hammersmith/Queen's Theatre and Nicholas Nickleby directed by Trevor Nunn for the Royal Shakespeare Company.
John received two best acting awards for Angel Baby (1995) - a Film Critics' Circle of Australia Award, as well as the Best Actor award from the Australian Film Institute.
He plays Simon de Montfort in the upcoming TV Mini-Series Labyrinth with Tom Felton (Draco Malfoy in the Harry Potter series), John Hurt (The Elephant Man), and Jessica Brown Findlay (Lady Sybil Crawley of Downton Abbey).
