Daniel Pinkwater is the author of over 50 (and counting) wildly popular books. His books are designed to be understood by children aged six to 14, but are read by people of all ages.
He is also an occasional commentator on National Public Radio's All Thing Considered and appears regularly on Weekend Edition Saturday where he reviews exceptional kids' books with host Scott Simon. Said books usually go on to become best-selling classics.
His collections of NPR essays (most notably Fish Whistle) explain that many elements of his fiction are based on real events and people he encountered in his youth.
Daniel also contributes to Wondertime, and has in the past been spotted on the pages of the New York Times Magazine, OMNI, and many other fine publications.
His well-known books include Lizard Music, The Hoboken Chicken Emergency, The Magic Pretzel and the picture book The Big Orange Splot.
Daniel is a trained artist and has illustrated many of his books in the past, although for more recent works that task has passed to his wife Jill Pinkwater.
He is the newest Anglophone announce on Radio Mozart -- all Mozart, all the time.
