Kevin Shinick #1
Kevin Shinick #1
MAD (Cartoon Network), Robot Chicken
Kevin Shinick's early ambition led him to become a talented actor, writer/producer and showrunner who also creates his own projects. He went from starring in school plays to starring in a slew of Broadway shows (thanks to his mentor, the late Tony Randall). He wrote the SPIDER-MAN LIVE! stage production that was a hit at Radio City Music Hall and subsequent sold-out 40-city tour.
In 2010, he won an Emmy for Outstanding Animated Program Short-format as a writer/voice actor/creative director on Adult Swim's ROBOT CHICKEN. In 2011, he won an Annie Writing in a Television Production for ROBOT CHICKEN: STAR WARS EPISODE III.
In 2012, he was Emmy-nominated in the same category but this time, for his own show, Cartoon Network's MAD, where he's the showrunner/writer/main voice talent/voice director. Let's just say he's the great and powerful Oz of MAD and you'll get the gist.
This year (2013), his ROBOT CHICKEN: DC COMICS SPECIAL won an Annie for Best General Audience Animated Television Production. MAD episode "FrankenWinnie/ParaMorgan" was also nominated for this category.
In September 2012, Shinick guest starred on NBC's GRIMM as a character who revealed his animal instincts when a plague comes to town and he became a porcupine man. He also released his Avenging Spider-Man #12 & #13 comics for Marvel. His humorous spin on the super hero featured Deadpool and the Hypno Hustler was a hit with critics and fans alike.
On February 4, 2013, he began a guest-starring arc in the pilot of David E Kelly's medical drama for TBS, MONDAY MORNINGS, along with Alfred Molina, Ving Rhames and Battlestar Galactica's Jamie Bamber.
Kevin was the voice of Nickelodeon for years (and wrote their promos) and he hosted PBS' Emmy-winning series, WHERE IN TIME IS CARMEN SANDIEGO?, a time traveling sci-fi quiz show that landed Shinick in teen magazines, onto trading cards and into his own action figure. But he was already obsessed with time travel as a young child and has yet to outgrow it. Imagine what Shinick could accomplish if he didn't run a show, act, write, create and spend all of his free time with his adored wife and 2-year old daughter? He'll happily tell you about his date with Angelina Jolie (really, please ask, he's begging you). But his wife is begging you not to.
