LOST IN SPACE is an American science fiction television series created and produced by Irwin Allen. The show ran for three seasons on CBS, with 83 episodes airing between September 15, 1965 and March 6, 1968. The first television season was filmed in black and white, but the remainders were filmed in color.
The year is 1997 and Prof. John Robinson (Guy Williams) and family have been launched into the cosmos aboard The Jupiter 2. As volunteers in America's efforts to colonize deep space, the family is underway on a five-and-a-half year mission to an earthlike planet. However, foreign spy and saboteur Dr. Zachary Smith (Jonathan Harris) manages to throw the ship off course while becoming stuck aboard the out-of-control vessel himself. Robinson's crew—along with would-be evildoer Smith—brave the trials and tribulations of their accidental adventures throughout the galaxy.
The show has been in syndication for many years, most recently on FX, Sci-Fi Channel, and ALN. It is currently available on Hulu streaming video, and is seen Saturday nights on Me-TV.
