In Season 3 of HANNIBAL, Rutina Wesley plays Reba McClane, a blind woman who is the love interest of Francis Dolarhyde (Richard Armitage). She is best known for her role as Tara Thornton, Sookie's (Anna Paquin) abrasive best friend-turned-vampire in HBO's TRUE BLOOD.
Rutina was born in Las Vegas, Nevada. She studied dance for years, then earned an undergraduate degree in Theatre Performance from the University of Evansville in Indiana. She was accepted by the acclaimed Julliard School in New York City. While there, she spent a summer at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London, England.
After leaving Julliard, Rutina was cast in the Broadway production of a David Hare play, "The Vertical Hour" opposite Bill Nighy. Next was an appearance in the Public Theater production, "In Darfur". She made her big-screen appearance in the dance melodrama HOW SHE MOVE (2007) and she guest starred on the hit television show NUMB3RS (2005). Her big break came when she signed onto the HBO production TRUE BLOOD (2008) which ran for seven seasons.
