Miracle Beach, She's Out of Control
Ami Dolenz is a third generation professional actress, preceded by her grandfather and father (Micky Dolenz of The Monkees).
Ami's agent taped her performing her monologue from her first interview, and submitted it to "Junior Star Search." There were over 1,000 tapes submitted, and Ami's was one of the very few accepted for the competition. Ami won the competition, and went on to win in the junior actress division for the year. This helped launch her career.
Ami's early acting days were spent as a guest star on many sitcoms, such as: GROWING PAINS, SAVED BY THE BELL, FERRIS BUELLER'S DAY OFF, MURDER SHE WROTE, and PACIFIC BLUE. She had a feature role on GENERAL HOSPITAL when she was only 17. It was while she was on this show that she landed her first major role in the feature film SHE'S OUT OF CONTROL with Tony Danza.
She was also a co-star in various other films, including CAN'T BUY ME LOVE, FAITH, RESCUE ME, MIRACLE BEACH, and several horror films such as: CHILDREN OF THE NIGHT, TICKS, WITCHBOARD II, and PUMPKINHEAD II. On the lighter side, is STEPMONSTER, a very cute movie about a kid that is sure his stepmother is a monster.
Ami has always loved to write, draw, and use her vivid imagination to create. For a number of years she taught acting classes for children in Los Angeles. In 2013, Friesen Press published her first children's book, Harold & Agatha: The Mysterious Jewel.
Ami lives both in L.A. and Vancouver, Canada with her husband Jerry Trimble Jr. who is an actor/producer/stuntman/world champion kickboxer and a motivational speaker. When she is not working on a film project or going to school for illustration, she uses her time cooking, gardening, or buried in a compelling book.
