In 1993, Noel Saabye followed his childhood love of cartoons and drawing into an apprenticeship with a small Minneapolis animation studio. There he had the opportunity to learn about the industry while assisting with projects including the opening credits to the 1994 Spiderman cartoon on FOX Kids, and cleaning up storyboards for DIC's Ultraforce and Kids WB's Animaniacs.
After several years, Noel relocated to Chicago to attend art school and quickly landed a full time job at Star Toons Animation Studio in Homewood, IL. There he spent the following 2 years animating on several projects which included the TV show Histeria! on Kids WB.
Noel relocated to Atlanta, GA in the fall of 1999 to work with local animation studios drawing storyboards and directing commercials for Cartoon Network. In mid 2000, he joined Cartoon Network's on-line department as the lead animator of their then new interactive website CartoonOrbit.com. After several years, CartoonOrbit came to an end and Noel became the lead animator of the In-house Games Team creating web games for many of the new Cartoon Network shows including The Grim Adventure of Billy & Mandy, Juniper Lee, Chowder, Flapjack and more.
In 2010, Noel started his own business Clown Pirate Productions and has continued to work in 2D web, mobile, & TV animation, illustration and design on projects for Cartoon Network, Mattel, Activision, PBS, Disney, and the rock band Skid Row. Noel is now working on his own indy comic with hopes of eventually turning it into an animated show.
When Noel is not animating, he enjoys acting silly with his amazing wife and playing with their dog. His other interests including reading, movies, traveling, listening to 80’s metal, casual video games, and being outdoors.
