Lea Thompson has been a fixture in the entertainment industry since the 1980s when she appeared in the timeless series BACK TO THE FUTURE. Other popular films include ALL THE RIGHT MOVES (starring opposite Tom Cruise) and SOME KIND OF WONDERFUL (with Mary Stuart Masterson and Eric Stoltz).
From 1995 to 1999, Lea starred in the hit NBC series CAROLINE IN THE CITY for which she won a People's Choice Award in 1996.
She played Chief Dep. Dist. Atty. Camille Paris in Lifetime Channel's FOR THE PEOPLE (2002-2003) and, between 2005-2008, she appeared as Cathy Davis (a.k.a. Agent Jane Doe) in all nine of Hallmark Channel's JANE DOE original movies.
After playing mom to Katie Leclerc, Vanessa Marano and Lucas Grabeel on the Freeform series SWITCHED AT BIRTH (2011-2017), Thompson went on to wrap up her role as the voice of another mom, Vonnie Zero on PENN ZERO: PART-TIME HERO. She then appeared in the films WHO WE ARE NOW and OVER THE HILL before reuniting with Grabeel in the modern-day version of Louisa May Alcott’s LITTLE WOMEN.
Lea has been married to film director Howard Deutch since 1989. They first met on the set of SOME KIND OF WONDERFUL. They have two daughters, Madeline (b. 1991) and Zoey (b. 1994) with whom she sang on stage in the BYE BYE BIRDIE production for the 16th annual Alzheimer's Association "A Night at Sardi's" in March 2008.
