University of Maryland: Basketball Coach

Gary B. Williams is the current head coach of the University of Maryland's men's college basketball team. He is a 2-time ACC Coach of the Year (2002, 2010).

As of March 2010, Gary Williams is the 5th winningest active coach in the country and the 3rd winningest coach all-time in the ACC (behind only Dean Smith and Mike Krzyzewski). In his 31 years as a Head Coach, Williams has amassed an overall record of 654–368 (.640) and 447–240 (.651) at Maryland.

He has been inducted into the Baltimore Sports Hall of Legends where he joined such Maryland state luminaries as Babe Ruth, John Unitas, Brooks Robinson and Jim McKay.

Gary Williams is an active member of the University of Maryland and greater Baltimore-Washington, D.C. community. He is involved in extensive charity, fund-raising and public speaking events throughout the year, particularly in the offseason.
