John Allen Nelson is an actor and writer originally from San Antonio, Texas. He spent his first three years in Germany with his three siblings where his father was stationed as a doctor for the U.S. Air Force.
His early acting credits include portraying original series character "Warren Lockridge" on the soap opera SANTA BARBARA from 1984 to 1986. He also co-starred in the early seasons of the series BAYWATCH as "John D. Cort," a lifeguard who is ultimately forced to retire because of retinitis pigmentosa.
John is also an accomplished screenwriter. He co-wrote the screenplay for the martial arts film, BEST OF THE BEST 2 as well as AMERICAN YAKUZA starring Viggo Mortensen. He also co-wrote and co-starred in the movie CRIMINAL PASSION.
Some of his most memorable television credits include playing Monica's boyfriend, "Paul the Wine Guy", on the first season of FRIENDS, the recurring role of "Walt Cummings" on 24, and "Senator Jeffrey Collins" on the 2006 FOX drama, VANISHED.
He is also a founding member of Joanne Woodward's acting workshop in New York City, along with Allison Janney, Dylan McDermott and Linden Ashby.
On television in 2014, he plays the "President of the United States" in NBC's series CRISIS, a conspiracy thriller starring Gillian Anderson, Dermot Mulroney, Rachael Taylor, Lance Gross, and REVENGE alum Max Martini as the villain.
